Drinking coffee with SerbinDubai

Drinking coffee with Stefan Veličković a.k.a Serb in Dubai. After the first interview which you already saw here[ Interview with SerbInDubai ], guys from NasBiro and goForTV decided to make another since in the first one I was not enough representative. Apparently, viewers complained about my #salanastranu hairstyle so they took me to the hairdresser. Visiting this kind of institution is not always pleasant especially if you get a non-wanted massage [head massage -just for the record] - check the video. The questions I answered are related to things I miss the most. Don't worry I mentioned all of you but they cut it in video editing. To skip writing more check the video (the video is in the Serbian language): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWqF74yHIOw Also, check some of the newest blog posts from SerbinDubai: THINGS YOU NEED TO DO WHEN VISITING SERBIA INCREDIBLE INDIA 5 WAYS TO SPEND YOUR FIRST SALARY IN DUBAI!!! Things you need to do when visiting Serbia

Things you need to do when visiting Serbia A few days ago I had the opportunity to talk with one Spanish lady who is apparently a big fan of Belgrade and generally our culture. After few routinely generated questions like where have you been, which place you visited and rest, I noticed that most of her answers are focused on things, not on places. Finishing my 3rd glass of wine I start wondering what will be the things which make the best impressions on foreigners. Let's face it, our cities are beautiful but you cannot really compare them with the biggest European capitals. So, it can't be the landscape which drives them spending their yearly vacations in our place. It is something else. She mentioned that only reason for visiting Belgrade was because her friend invited her, otherwise she will never come. From here I realize the main thing - they come because of PEOPLE. I know that folks in homeland have different...

Incredible India

Incredible India

In the heart of India Around 3 years ago my arse was fitting armchair in the suburb of Belgrade (Kumodraz city). The clock showed 4 PM and that was a sign that Tv channel needs to be moved to number 701 or the Travel channel. Approximately 5.1 times per hour there was a commercial about Incredible India. Spiritual, monumental place which is the homeland of 1.3 billion people never actually made a big impression on me. I was deceived by numerous viral videos of primitive people who harm each other with no reason. I was sure that my foot will never step on Indian soil. Three years later here I am, standing in a queue for eVisa at Indira Gandhi airport in Delhi. To be frank, I will never do that if there were not a lot of amazing Indian people in Dubai who convince me to try. Obviously, my mother wasn't convinced. A daily controller of my digestion tablets collection, she was the only difficulty I felt in...

Top 25 facts about the Serbs!!!!!

Top 25 facts about the Serbs!!!!!

Who are the Serbs? Serbia is a mythological nation stuck on the Balkan peninsula. Descendants of South Slavs, these guys have participated in some of the biggest world events - "Discovery of Rakija" , "WW1 misunderstanding", "Invention of power/wifi - N.Tesla" and probably the biggest culprits of Twilight saga movies (created vampires - sorry guys). They are also known as " the Oldest species", "People from heaven" and many more. Some people say that they are fearless and brave but when promaja strikes- everyone is running away. (Promaja -the biggest enemy of the Serbs , cold assassin and sneaky bastard. Usually attacks from back and hitting the "Krsta" ). ->Windy draft that happens when two windows on opposite sides of the house are opened. Currently there are ~ 12-13 millions worldwide and most of them you can recognize by these things. TOP 25 facts about the Serbs Getting best business ideas in Kafana. Interview with SerbInDubai

Interview with SerbInDubai

Interview with SerbInDubai Hi friends i just did an interview, 3 months ago I started this project called SerbinDubai in order to help Serbs and other nationalities to adapt to life in Dubai. During this period I noticed that with an every single article our fan-base increased. People started to recognize "Dragisa" and I am very grateful on that. Also, somewhere in between one portal notice our work and suggested to create a short video about us (SerbInDubai and me). This portal name is NasBiro and they make awesome stories about people who got the courage to come here and do something with their life (and much more cool stuff - check them out). Currently, an interview we made is on Serbian language but in the future, we will try to make subtitles for our foreign supporters. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9GVZsc1_KA  ...

Winter is coming!!!!

Winter is coming!!!!

Brace yourself winter is coming!!!! Average Serb waits for many things in life but the one who lives in Dubai waits only for one -the month of October (and salary as well). Why? Simply because we can finally go out. Average temperatures in Dubai during the summer days are enough to make popcorn without a microwave. Humidity  - don't even mention that. Just imagine instant showering the moment you leave your beloved apartment (in Marina with just a few roommates from all around the world = 10, Mostly South Asians). But October is something beautiful. This is the period when all Dubai-ans start preparing for the winter season. So brace yourself!!! Winter is coming. First and the most important thing to prepare is new bikini or swimsuits. Water temperature will drop under 30 degrees Celsius, so no more sauna effect.  Obviously, you worked out a lot during summer and you don't want to show new abs in an old suit. Imagine what will your...

Experiencing a Serbian Slava

Experiencing a Serbian Slava

Srećna slava domaćine!!!!! Every Serbian family has a saint who is patron and protector of the house. That saint is celebrated once a year, and during that three days, every family in Serbia has a biggest people and food management challenge. Slava is an event during which you see long distance cousins, greet your friends and make Serbian hospitality looks like 5-star hotel service in your home. Most of the Slava-s are usually in the winter and during that time most of the people get an extra kg (or 5). (also the time when police get their 13th salary. So prepare money for cab or limit number of your wife's drinks). Tradition says that you there is no inviting for Slava, you should just show up, and it is up to host where you're gonna sit. To survive Serbian Slava follow these tips: Don't eat anything whole day, you need to prepare for the following feast. Always bring wine, and the same wine comes to you when you celebrate...

How to recognize a Serb!!!

How to recognize a Serb!!!

Recognize Serb in Dubai Foreigner - Siberia? It is sooooo cold there. SerbinDubai -No, no, not that one. Foreigner - Oh yeah you mean Syria? Pooooor you guys it is war there. SerbinDubai - Not even that one. Seee-erb-iiii-aaaa. Foreigner - O.o Common mistakes made by foreigners. Although we can have both of these elements our country is pretty stable these days. With the population of the average street in India, Serbia found a spot in heart of the Balkan. Land of beautiful women (yep, the tall ones which turn your head clockwise when you walk on JBR), loud guys in the pub, ajvar and rakija. The place where everyone is a brother to everyone and every daughter is a son. How to recognize a Serb? People from this super-cool-awesome place are easily recognizable. That moment when you are feeling like a hobbit and all you can see are men's belts, probably means nearby are some Serbs. (Especially if in the same place there is promotion of beer (if anyone wondered 1 Hoegaarden$ = 10...

Balkan In Dubai

Balkan in Dubai!!! I received a lot of comments previous days on my Blog like: "This is nice but there are other nationalities here", "Why are you so focused on Serbs", "Why only Belgrade when there is Zagreb, Sarajevo, Budva...". In order to fix this mess, my friend Darko and me come up with the idea to create something that will mix all from Balkan. Balkan in Dubai. Our goal is to collect members from all Ex-Yu countries (also Bulgarians, Greeks) and make them share their stories. This can be great opportunity to show the world that we can live together.  If you would like to be part of this and form a first Balkan community in Dubai please send us an email with your short story here or send a message on the facebook page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt-ibZ_jlHY&feature=youtu.be What is the Balkan? The abstract term "The Balkans", unlike the geographical borders of the Peninsula, defines political borders of the states comprising it. The term is used to describe areas...
