Interview with SerbInDubai

Interview with SerbInDubai

Interview with SerbInDubai Hi, friends i just did an interview, 3 months ago I started this project called SerbinDubai in order to help Serbs and other nationalities to adapt to life in Dubai. During this period I noticed that with every single article our fan base increased. People started to recognize "Dragisa" and I am very grateful for that. Also, somewhere in between one portal notice our work and suggested creating a short video about us (SerbInDubai and me). This portal name is NasBiro and they make awesome stories about people who got the courage to come here and do something with their life (and much more cool stuff - check them out). Currently, an interview we made is in Serbian language but in the future, we will try to make subtitles for our foreign supporters. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9GVZsc1_KA   ...

Winter is coming!!!!

Winter is coming!!!!

Brace yourself winter is coming!!!! Average Serb waits for many things in life but the one who lives in Dubai waits only for one -the month of October (and salary as well). Why? Simply because we can finally go out. Average temperatures in Dubai during the summer days are enough to make popcorn without a microwave. Humidity  - don't even mention that. Just imagine instant showering the moment you leave your beloved apartment (in Marina with just a few roommates from all around the world = 10, Mostly South Asians). But October is something beautiful. This is the period when all Dubai-ans start preparing for the winter season. So brace yourself!!! Winter is coming. First and the most important thing to prepare is a new bikini or swimsuit. Water temperature will drop under 30 degrees Celsius, so no more sauna effect.  Obviously, you worked out a lot during summer and you don't want to show new abs in an old suit. Imagine what will...

How to recognize a Serb!!!

How to recognize a Serb!!!

Recognize Serb in Dubai Foreigner - Siberia? It is sooooo cold there. SerbinDubai -No, no, not that one. Foreigner - Oh yeah you mean Syria? Pooooor you guys it is war there. SerbinDubai - Not even that one. Seee-erb-iiii-aaaa. Foreigner - O.o Common mistakes made by foreigners. Although we can have both of these elements our country is pretty stable these days. With the population of the average street in India, Serbia found a spot in heart of the Balkan. Land of beautiful women (yep, the tall ones which turn your head clockwise when you walk on JBR), loud guys in the pub, ajvar and rakija. The place where everyone is a brother to everyone and every daughter is a son. How to recognize a Serb? People from this super-cool-awesome place are easily recognizable. That moment when you are feeling like a hobbit and all you can see are men's belts, probably means nearby are some Serbs. (Especially if in the same place there is promotion of beer (if anyone wondered 1 Hoegaarden$ = 10...

Balkan In Dubai

Balkan In Dubai

Balkan in Dubai!!! I received a lot of comments previous days on my Blog like: "This is nice but there are other nationalities here", "Why are you so focused on Serbs", "Why only Belgrade when there is Zagreb, Sarajevo, Budva...". In order to fix this mess, my friend Darko and me come up with the idea to create something that will mix all from Balkan. Balkan in Dubai. Our goal is to collect members from all Ex-Yu countries (also Bulgarians, Greeks) and make them share their stories. This can be great opportunity to show the world that we can live together.  If you would like to be part of this and form a first Balkan community in Dubai please send us an email with your short story here or send a message on the facebook page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt-ibZ_jlHY&feature=youtu.be What is the Balkan? The abstract term "The Balkans", unlike the geographical borders of the Peninsula, defines political borders of the states comprising it. The term is used to describe areas...

Most used abbreviations in Dubai!!!

Most used abbreviations in Dubai!!!

Living in IMPZ but working in DIC Usual start of a conversation with someone you meet for the first time and you want to be a smart-ass. Serb in Dubai likes to be a smart-ass and that's why he dedicated this article to you. Abbreviations are a common thing in a language of Dubaians. You can easily crack how long they stay in Dubai by their ABB knowledge. " Hi man let's meet at DFC next to R-C*". Expats who spent less than 1 year will probably think about your bad pronunciation of K  and prepare their stomach for delicious Zinger Twister Meal. But the real deal is who still eat in KFC when Kulcha King opened new branches all over the city. So to avoid confusion, Serb in Dubai will reveal the formula for you. Abbreviations formula D -  believe it or not, it stands for Dubai. But, if to you girls someone suggests meeting D on Tinder trust me it is not Dubai. I - usually stands for...

Taxi in Dubai

Taxi in Dubai

Did you know that if you stop a taxi from the right side of Sheik Zaid road, you might save up to 10 AED?   In Dubai we are lazy. Let's say that 50,48% of people are using taxis along with the metro. There are 15 000 cab drivers driving around in the city on every moment of the day. According to my calculations the monthly cost for taxi is approximately 400 AED~100 Eur. Starting fee is 5 AED but the minimum amount you have to pay is 12 AED. Consequently,  the logical question arises --> How to save as much you can? Normal people would say ( "Don't go with the freaking taxi and use the bus or buy a car!"). Well yeah, but where is the joy in that when you cannot have a nice and cosy conversation with "the Boss"). Where else you can hear pleasant Punjabi music which will bring Nirvana in your life? NOWHERE!!!! So shout up and focus on your route. Dubai is one...

What type of photos of Dubai you must take to annoy your friends in Serbia?

What type of photos of Dubai you must take to annoy your friends in Serbia?

What photos of Dubai you #musttake to annoy your friends in Serbia? Young Serb is on his couch and preparing for a few days' trips to visit his friend in Dubai (a few days = until he finds a job). Wondering what awaits him there, he timidly checks the Instagram photos and IDJ videos in order to prepare for his new world. His mother is quite happy because he chose Dubai as the next station in life because there, he has no major worries other than he had to step out after a shower and die of brain inflammation. (It's rather hot here). After 5 mins of intense research, he starts imagining himself in various positions: at the beach, next to Burj Al Arab, in front of Burj Khalifa, and of course next to the pool in his building with the newest book of zorannah and half-shaved legs. My heartbeat rate is going up and everything's ready for boarding the luxurious Fly-Dubai 737-300 to...
